Functional therapy
Everything is linked to everything - "everything is connected with everything"!
Our teeth, the tooth support system / jawbone, the jaw joints and the masticatory muscles form a functional unit that is of central importance for our wellbeing.
The anatomy of the teeth, the jaw bones and the temporomandibular joints and their complex relationships in dynamic interaction, for example when speaking and chewing, are the focus of interest in functional therapy.
If errors occur in this functional unit, for example due to missing teeth, incorrect dentures, overloading, etc., this can lead to pain in the masticatory muscles in the temporomandibular joint
as well as in the head and neck area. Furthermore, negative effects on the entire spinal column area and thus also on the posture cannot be ruled out.
In order to maintain a balance between these structures or to restore imbalances that have already occurred with pain symptoms, the use of functional diagnostics and functional therapy is recommended.
In our practice, especially before a complex dental prosthesis is provided, a precise examination of the functional relationships has proven to be useful in order to produce the correct dental prosthesis for each patient.
