prophylaxis
Current research shows a steady decline in carious diseases as well as in tooth loss. With regard to diseases of the periodontal system (periodontitis), however, the opposite is the case: In the period from 1997 to 2005, almost 75% of 35 to 40 year old adults and almost 90% of senior citizens suffered from at least moderate periodontitis. This development shows us a great need for action and the importance of risk-oriented dental prophylaxis tailored to individual patient requirements. Especially with older seniors who often suffer from a decrease in mental and motor performance, concepts must be used that promote long-term dental and oral health. Our patients benefit from concepts in the sense of preventive dentistry that focus on many years of internal practical experience.
